Love = Creatures

We thought that the Love= Creatures were so nice we started to make some ourselves so we're doing mine first.
I thought to make a monkey and we already started on my monkey, we've cut out the body, the eye pieces and the mouth.
our eyes we orderd have indeed come weeks ago so now we are just waiting for a good day to do it on. if you would like to make one this is what you'll need: 1 yard of fabric, needles, pins, felt, eyes, and a brilliant imagination!
I'll show you where to get this stuff on a seperat post!

Earth book for kids by Linda Schwartz

Here is a fact we got from a book called EARTH BOOK:
In the United States, people generated approximately 220 million tons of municipul solid waste in 1998-and increase of 4 million tons from 1997.

A PROBLEM we must all think seriously about....

Next time you stop somewhere to get something to drink, think about what I am about to show you. These pictures were taken by an amazing artist named Chris Jordan. They show us the problem we have in our country with consumption (buying things).... The following pictures show us something pretty scary... (click on the pictures to enlarge them and get the full affect.)

It's crazy to imagine, but the first one is a photograph of 2 MILLION PLASTIC BOTTLES. This is the number of bottles used in the U.S. EVERY-FIVE-MINUTES!!!

Did you know that 70% of these bottles don't even get recycled, and fill up our land fills instead? What can we do about this? Tia and I try and help by using Nalgene and Sigg Water bottles, that we can use over and over again. What will you do?

btw.... Did you know that plastic bottles can be made into YARN, and then sewn into carpet and clothing items such as polarfleece? Recycle your bottles!

Tia and I want to welcome you to our virtual garden. We call it a garden, because it's a place we can all plant seeds (ideas) together, and watch them grow! We will also use it to keep a written and photographic journal of the things we do on our little farm in New York's beautiful Hudson Valley. Since we both feel very strongly about the state of the environment (climate change), we plan to have lots of projects and activities that will help to heal the earth.
